4 Fashion Trends I Currently Love
My first blog post, eek!
Hi there! For those of you who don’t know, my name is Taylor Rose Mendiola, owner and designer of T. Rose Swim. Ever since I started the brand, it has been a goal of mine to eventually expand to more than just swim and to be more personable with it so you can get to know me a bit more as a person. If you follow me on my personal ig, you’ll see that I am constantly posting OOTD’s or things I find and love, so this year I decided to start the T. Rose Edit where I can share anything and everything fashion with you all. I wanted to tie in my love for fashion into the brand, since after all, it is an extension of myself. This is just for funzies and a place where I can where I can express myself through style, brands I love, etc. So if you’re at all interested, read along for my current 4 fav fashion trends. *note – I am not a writer by any means, so bear with me lol..
1) Print Clashes
It took me a while to hop on this trend. I never liked the idea of two totally unrelated prints combined into the same pattern. Never understood it. Until I was scrolling on Instagram and came across a dress that could not be more… me. If you know me, you know I love anything animal print and flowers and this one combined both! Fully floral on the front and total leopard print on the back. I was immediately obsessed and thought “Okaaay so maybe print clashes do work?!”. A piece of clothing never made me so happy before because it totally embodied everything I love into one garment and that’s what matters most about clothing, How it makes you feel amirite.
2) Bandanas
I have to admit, I have a new found love for bandanas LOL. They’ve been around for the longest time and I don’t know why I never hopped on this sooner. I always just assumed they for your hair and I have the most uncooperative hair that I just never thought about using them.
However, I went shopping the other day and the sales associate had on the cutest belt and when I asked her about it she said it was a bandana! I kid you not, I immediately bought some in several colors after seeing that and now love incorporating then into my outfits whether its wrapping it around my bun/ponytail (since again, my hair is so uncooperative that it is ALWAYS up), or wearing them as a belt. And again, if you know me, you know I need animal print at least somewhere in my outfits at all times, so using bandanas is the perfect way to subtly add it in.
3) Clay Earrings
My all time FAVE trend of this year. This pandemic has brought out so many creative side hustles, we love to see it, and my fave being all the clay earrings I’ve been seeing. In high school I was a sucker for big dangly earrings but as I got older I stopped wearing them as much because they were so heavy and would hurt my ears so I stuck to studs for years after that. My best friends mom then started a clay earring company over quarantine and I was obsessed to say the least. They are so light on your ears but still get to be big and dangly and in the cutest shapes & colors. Its literally a STAPLE in my everyday outfits now and just adds the perfect amount of pop & fun.
4) Warm Tones
I don’t know what it is but lately I’ve been ONLY drawn to warm, muted toned outfits. Like browns, yellows, tans, etc. I thought maybe it was a phase during fall time but its now February and I’m noticing its still 90% of what I wear everyday! I even cleared out my closet of bright printed things to fill it with more tan tones. And if that wasn’t far enough, I changed the theme of my wedding to also be brown / tans / coppers when my original idea was to do bright, fun, & print heavy themed. (Sorry bridesmaids!)
This is all totally out of my comfort zone, so again, bear with me. But stay tuned and I’ll try to post on here as much as possible. If you’ve made it this far, you a real one. Thank you for reading along!
